BMM - I'll Try To Make Friday Funny

Today is Fridays: May I share something funny?
Fridays = the starts of weekends! BOOYA. Reason to celebrate and laugh on it's own--plus, who doesn't want to see something amusing after a long week?

So the other day I get an email at work from my hubby.

He sends me a picture (which I deleted cause I about barfed) of this little lady...
Which one is real?
holding a purple Crayola brandishing a booger on the end. I'm not shitting you. Dry heaving over my keyboard I emailed him back asking him if that is what I think it is. Now mind you, everyone I know, knows that I canNOT stomach snot, boogers, hockers, loogies – oh Jesus cheese-wiz I think I’m gonna get sick.

See where I’m going with this?

So anyways I speared you the picture which I wanted to post so badly. I didn’t think you wanted to stare down the barrel of a loaded crayon.

After he told me "its" what I thought it was, I could feel my body go weak and filling with nausea. He then proceeds to tell me he “can’t get the purple off.”

“You can’t get the purple off? How about taking the *holds hand over mouth* booger off the purple. I’m sure that’ll work better.”

“No I can’t get the purple off of her face.”

WHA-! Here she was digging so hard for her buried treasure that she had colored on her face. When my hubby brought my daughter to work (we work different shifts at the same place and do a switch-a-roo) she says “I got me booga out wiff a ca-yon!” and showing her brightest smile.

Ugh, and again my horror starts all over.

Have a great weekend everybody. Hope it’s booga free!

Interviewing Jackie (at) Bouquet of Books

Today is Thursday and that means: Thursdays: May I tell you something about someone else?
Make this post about someone else. A writing friend. A critique partner. A person from history who's fascinating. A character from a book. Anyone you want. :) Have a guest poster. Give an interview. Get creative! Just let the spotlight shine on someone else.
I, of course, have to share with you someone that has been a part of my life for, what, 13-14 years. She married my cousin and we have grown tight over the years. She has been there for each of my kids, she has witness all of my heartbreaks and losses, and she has picked me up when I was trying to put all of my pieces back together. She helped w/my 30th bday party, Threw me my baby shower for baby #4, suffered thru my pregnancy w/me, and was my Maid of Honor. Mother of 4 boys, inspiring author, beautiful wife, and florist, she can do it all. So here is Jackie @ Bouquet of Books...

I'm in black
Jackie is in blue-ish

1.) I know my first recollection of meeting you, at your baby shower for your oldest, is different from your first memory of meeting me. Can you tell me again about the first time you remember meeting me?
At your cousin’s wedding. You and the younger cousins were all dancing their booties off, but then a slow song came on. Lenny and I went to the dance floor to dance. You and the cousins giggled like teen girls do.
Wow that was a long time ago.
It wasn’t THAT long ago… LOL

2.) What would be your favorite memory of us?
Hmm… when we got our tattoos together and when we’d go out for our movie time.
Movie date night was the best and of course I will always treasure our tat.

Aunt Jackie w/baby#4
3.) Name a habit or something I do that drives you nuts?
That's a hard ques! Lol. I can't think of anything off the top of my head. So you must not do anything that drives me too crazy....but we haven't "seen" each other in a while so maybe that's why I can't come up with any. I'll try to think of something. :)
Oh you can think of something. Ask Lenny. I’m sure you have said something to him over the years like “if she yadda yadda yadda's one more time I’m gonna flip”. You know, like in passing and jokingly. Like I have said to Justin… “Did you know that Jackie does this thing with her lips when driving? I don’t think she’s aware of how loud it is.” LMAO! Do you know you do this with your mouth? We might have talked about it before.
Lmao! Yes. Lenny told me I do it. And I'm like no I don't. And then De told me I did and I'm like you guys are on crack. The kicker is, Debbie, a girl I went to high school with (and she was in my wedding and at my baby showers) says I did that habit back in high school! What the heck? And to hear you say it, too! Lmao. How f*ckin annoying of a habit that is! I'm a weirdo.
I really don't think you have an annoying habit, imo. :)
How about:
*I cut people off when I get excited about something in a convo.
*I over-exaggerate when I’m excited about something when telling a story.
*I cuss a lot even in front of kids.
*I’m a late breaker when driving.
*I’m late in giving driving instructions when someone else is driving.
Do I need to go on? LOL!
OMG!!! How could I freakin forget about all that stuff?! Yes. You nailed it. 1,4, and 5 for sure! I don't mind cussing, though I try to restrain myself in front of kiddos.
Oh Thanks! Glad I could help.

Jackie and her brew!
4.) Name one characteristic you like about me?
Sarcastic, like myself
Life wouldn’t be the same without it. I know I could not function being ordinary.

5.) If we were to get another tattoo together, what would it say?
Post pluvia venit soles -- After rain comes sunshinewhat about you ?
Wait a minute here I thought I was asking the questions. This one I have thought about and it would be…”L'une aimée peut causer la douleur mais sa cette douleur qui nous fait grandit plus fort ensemble.” (Loved ones may cause pain but it’s that pain that makes us grow stronger together.)
Wow!!! That’s a lot of script! Very deep, too. I'm sure we’ll come to a compromise if we ever go down that road again.

J, myself, Jax, and Leo
Name only ONE thing from each category below that you would want if you were stranded in a bunker during a zombie apocalypse…

6.) Movie?
Dawn of the Dead…. Okay, I know what people must be thinking. A zombie movie during a zombie apocalypse? Have I lost my mind? Well, probably, but hear me out. I can watch the movie and get some pointers of what to do and NOT to do. Because let’s face it. Those survivors made some serious mistakes.
I totally get your reasoning and would most definitely pick a zombie flick as well.

We are hardly serious
7.) Book?
The Bible
Nice choice

8.) TV show?
The Voice. Hello? I’d HAVE to get my Adam Levine fix.
::rolling eyes:: ; )
What? He’s hot … and sweet… and can sing… and he’s hot! I can’t imagine not looking at him or hearing him every now and then. It would be tragic.

You remember this pic don't you Jax? ;)
9.) Ethnicity of food i.e. Italian, Mexican, etc?
Mexican food (with lots and lots of jalapenos please.)
I hope the crapper works wherever you’re staying!
Yikes! I did NOT  think of that. I’m changing my answer to Italian. Lots of pasta! I’ll need the carbs, not the poops.

10.) Nook or Kindle?
Kindle
I couldn’t live without mine either. But hopefully I have it filled with all the books I want. Who knows how long internet is going to be up and running.

11.) Drink?
Water for sure! (and coffee! Sorry, but I’m sneaking some of it in. I’ll need caffeine to keep up with all the running I’ll be doing.)
I said one! You can always hijack some caffeine pills from a pharmacy.
Water and coffee, it is! Thanks! LMAO
Punk

12.) Weapon of choice? You need to kill some zombies on your pillaging missions.
Machete
Nice!

13.) What would your raiding attire consist of?
Dressed in layers: Cargo pants, tank top, long sleeved button up shirt, undergarments, and running shoes…. Oh, and these orange and gray Asics that I have. On the back of the shoe, there are little orange flowers. Super cute. Hey, if I’m going to be running from some flesh eating mutants, I’ll be doing it in style!
Layers is essential. The more layers, the harder it is to have teeth sunken into your arm. Cute shoe! Are you serious?
Oh, I’m absolutely serious!

Dorks R Us
14.) Pick your top 5 zombie flicks/shows.
* Dawn of the Dead remake
* The Walking Dead
* I Am Legend (I know. Some say the mutant things were vamps, others say zombies. I’m saying zombie-vamps.)
* Resident Evil
* Shaun of the Dead
Love them all although I’d switch SotD for 28 Days Later.
I liked 28 Weeks Later better than the Days flick.

15.) Now pick one item or person from each movie/show that you think will help aid in your survival.
* Kenneth (Ving Rhames)- He’s badass when it comes to killing zombies, and he’s a freakin brick wall. I’d want him on my side for sure.
* Daryl Dixon – He’s best friends with that crossbow. He’d make a great addition to my team.
* Robert Neville (Will Smith) – A scientist who may find a cure, plus he kicked butt in I Am Legend. And, um, he’s nice to look at. *sigh*
* Alice (Milla Jovovich) This chick is straight up awesome. And she knows how to kill the undead.
* Shaun (Simon Pegg) – Comedy relief in a zombie apocalypse? Yes, please!
I’m swiping Shaun for the dog off of Dawn of the Dead cause everyone needs an obedient comrade that the undead doesn’t want for a Scooby Snack. Plus I’m the comedic relief in my band of misfits.
I wouldn’t want a dog around because they will bark whenever they feel like it which would attract the undead. No, thanks!
That’s why you train them.

About your writing…
16.) What part of writing do you find the most satisfying?
Creating characters
Me too!

17.) Best character you’ve ever written. Why?
I love all my characters each in their own way so I can’t choose one. I’d feel like I’m hurting someone or something. Sounds dorky, but it’s true.
Oh you have to give me one character that you hold dear and near to your heart. ::puts hands up:: Ok, ok, no you don’t.

18.) Hardest character to write. Why?
I think the antagonist in any of my manuscripts is hard for me to write because it requires being nasty. I don’t like that part, but it’s a necessity.
Being nasty is my favorite part. It’s roleplaying for me.

19.) What is the best advice, about writing, you’ve ever gotten?
Really, it’d have to be … “write, read, write, read.” It sounds so blasé, but it’s really true.
Wise words!

You can't say we don't have a good time!
20.) What is something you’d like to share with my readers about writing?
Besides the above advice, I’d say get some beta readers. They are invaluable. Also, don’t give up. Tell your story and write those characters. Because while you’re thinking about writing it, someone else already is writing it.
That’s some of the best advice out there. Someone is always trying to get their foot in the door before you.
Thanks a bunch!

And there you have it ladies, gentlemen, and germs - my soultwin Jackie! Literally... the good Lord split atoms, DNA, morrow, and anything else that makes us - us, and put 1/2 in me and the other half in her.

Dust It Off & BMM - Learned from WIP

Today is the last day for the Dust It Off hosted by Cortney Pearson and Theresa Paolo!

The third day, May 7th: Post what you learned from this WIP. You become a stronger, more rounded writer which each manuscript and we want to know what this particular work taught you.

I didn’t enter this Bloghop to win the prizes. In fact I probably shouldn’t win. First, I don’t have any type of query and don’t even have the desire to write one until I finish my WIP and have it polished. Second, I don’t have a full manuscript to critique. I wish I did but unfortunately I do not. And this is why I participated in the Bloghop in the first place – to dust Unsurvive off and get back to writing and finishing it.

Hmmm… what have I learned? I learned NOT to GIVE UP on myself so easily.
I learned to TRUST! You guys were so nice to take the time to stop by and read my Pitch and Excerpt. Then you wonderful bloggers had some great things to say and really made me feel like I can be more open and trustworthy with my WIP’s.

I learned to BELIEVE in my children. They had/have the best ideas for writing a book that will appeal to them and adults. This led me to think that I should probably change my YA Horror to MG Horror. The kids gave me tips on how I should change a scene, make it more appealing, and they even had great SCARY concepts they wanted to see added. Each one wanted have a kill by the end of the book… did you get that? They [my kids] wanted to have a kill. Yup, you guessed it; those are my kids in my WIP. Why did I put my kids in it? Well I received a great tip from a twitter pal who suggested, when I was having a hard even getting started, to replace my protags with my children. This will give my writing passion and have me feel it more. She was right. I have never had more desire for writing than I did after adding my kids to the story.

Lastly… I wanted to say THANK YOU! You were all so kind to stop by and say such nice things. It gives me the power and thirst to finish this WIP.

And this is what I have learned!

Mondays: May I tell you something about writing?
This can be anything writing-related. A post on craft. A post on your process. A snippet of your WIP, if you like to share. A book on craft that you want to recommend. Things you struggle with. Things you rock at. ANYTHING at all!

The post above is for both Bloghops! There, how easy was that.

 Have a great Monday!

Dust It Off and Blog Me MAYbe Bloghops

So where to begin...

Two bloghops...
How about we do the Dust It Off Bloghop first,

The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP.

I shelved this WIP cause I couldn't finish it. I was dealing with some tricky stuff. Do I or Don't I kill off someone. I'm using this WIP in hopes off jumpstarting my passion to finish it.

Title: Unsurvive
Genre: YA Horror
Length: goal 80,000

A thirteen year old boy’s only hope for survival is his grandparent's home, but with three younger siblings to care for and the living dead lurking around every corner, the trek there could be the last mistake they ever make.

Now the Blog Me MAYbe Thursdays: May I tell you something about someone else?

My closest friend of 13 years is my complete opposite when it comes to being girly. Of course I love being girly in the time of need; but do not love shoes or read love books, study fashion in NY, or design purses and shoes. She is very adventurous though. She loves sky-diving and travels everywhere. I love her for everything she is and she is my naughty counterpart. You wanna hear some great partying stories? We have them. How about that one time when - no, not appropriate. Or maybe that time when - no can't tell that one either.

Jaimie and I played 20 questions and here they are...

1.) Can you tell me again about the first time you remember meeting me?
Well I had just started dating your brother, and he said we were going to go to his sister's house. So we get there, and you are sitting there, hubby #1 and (his bestfriend) Gabe (I think) are playing a video game and we're just sitting on the couch hanging out. You were pregnant with baby #1 and you said Sorry we're not much fun. And then you were telling us some story about mice or rats in your apartment.

2.) What trip would you do with me again; going to Cedar Point or New York?
Definitely NYC. We had crap weather the whole weekend while you were there. I would like you to see the real New York where everyone is out.

3.) What’s your favorite memory of us?
How the hell am I supposed to pick a favorite memory?? I have so many memories, they are all my favorites :) What's YOUR favorite memory of us?

4.) What would you do if you were made to celebrate your birthday on ONE day and ONE day only?
Well, this would never happen...but if for some crazy reason I had only one day to celebrate, I would get up early, go shopping for some birthday treats to myself, probably at least a pair of shoes, and an outfit or two. After that, I would have a nice lunch with Luke somewhere yummy, maybe Salvatori's (if you haven't tried it, you need to. It'll change your life), then we'd go home and have some amazing sex, shower, and then I'd start the long process of getting ready for my birthday party! We would meet up with everybody important to me for dinner and drinks maybe at club soda or baker street (because this is my fantasy and money is no object!) after that we would go to flashbacks where they would only play the awesome old music that make us dance and laugh and sing along to at the top of our lungs! After we closed the bar down, we would go to IHOP and eat lots of yummy food like hashbrowns and bacon! Then Luke would take me home and put me in bed. And that might just be the best birthday I've ever dreamt of. Keep this, it might the plan for next year :)

5.) If we were to get another tattoo together, but this time about us, what would it be?
Maybe the Chinese symbol for sisters

Name only one thing from each category below that you would want if you were stranded on a deserted island
6.) Movie?
Almost Famous. Weird that we'll have a tv and dvd player on a deserted island :)

7.) Book?
umm...since I'm trapped on a desert island, I probably want some light reading so I'll take something by Lauren Weisberger or Emily Giffin

8.) TV show?
New Girl!

9.) Ethnicity of food i.e. Italian, Mexican, etc?
Mmm probably Italian.

10.) Mountain Dew or Beer?
Hmm...is it ice cold? Nothing tastes better on a hot deserted island than an ice cold beer. On the other hand...warm mountain dew is pretty nasty.

11.) Bikini or One Piece? And you can only have ONE swim suit.
Bikini. I would probably pick a comfy one, either my white plaid one or my teal striped boyshorts w/ teal top.

12.) Lip Gloss or Mascara?
Lip Gloss! I can't go anywhere without mascara, but if I'm on a desert island no one will see me, my lips will know they are dry.

13.) Sleeping Arrangements: Cot or Hammock?
Hammock! I love those things :)

14.) You can only take 5 things from your apartment; what would they be?
Hmmm...chapstick, my fav picture of Luke, sunscreen, kindle, and my phone. I originally had Rambo (her cat) on here, but he'd probably starve. I'd like to think my sister or Luke would think of him once they heard I was stranded and take care of him while I'm away.

15.) Would you exercise or relax? Probably relax at first, but depending on how long I'm stranded I would get bored, and start working out.
About yourself

16.) What is the best part about waking up in the mornings?
I suppose I should say the best thing about waking up in the mornings is the fact that I'm waking up to enjoy another day, but honestly since I'm not a morning person, nothing seems good about waking up in the mornings. Unless it’s summer and I don't have to work, or Luke is in my bed :)

17.) What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve done in the past year?
I would say the fact that I'm in a real, grown up relationship, and I've taken steps to do what I really want to do with my life

18.) Something you haven’t done but want to in the future?
See my shoe designs in stores!

19.) Biggest regret if there is any?
I wish I would've given New York more of a chance while I was there. Maybe stayed and did an internship, and gotten a job out there after school. Sometimes I wish I had, but then I wouldn't have met Luke, so mostly I'm glad things turned out like they did.

20.) Tell me something about yourself that I might not know.
Well, with the encouragement of Luke, I am contacting people and doing research and writing up a business plan to design my own shoes and bags! I'm very excited, though it's going to be a long, slow process.

Blog Me MAYbe Zombie Survey - FOR MY FOLLOWERS

Sara McClung invites you to join her (and Katy, Cambria, Jessica, Tracey, Alexandra, Lola, and Alison) for the Blog Me MAYbe.
Wednesdays: May I ask something about you?

Today is Wednesday which means I get to ask you, my reader, something about yourself. MAY I?
Here goes…
I thought I’d make this fun.
A to Z brought out many Zombie Enthusiasts on “Z” day soooo….
I have a set of questions for ALL of you.
Ready. Set. GO!!!!!!
During the Zombie Apocalypse…
1. What would you change your name to? Cause c’mon, everyone wants a badass zombie slashing name. Right?!
2. Would you try to survive at your house or find shelter somewhere else? Where would this somewhere else be?
3. What ONE person out of all the zombie movies/tv/novels/comics would you want on your team?
4. Now; which ONE of those movies/tv/novels/comics would be the ideal zombie setting?
5. What would your ZA theme song/album be?
My A’s:
1. Dani Darko
2. Parent’s house is ideal. They’re in the country.
3. Alice from Resident Evil
4. The Angels are the Reapers novel by Alden Bell
5. System of a Down – Toxicity

Seriously – those were hard for even me to pick just ONE. Ugh!

Go on - I'm waiting.
