I'm Hearing Voices Character Blogfest - Day Deuce

From Cassie Mae's Blog:

February 8th - Wednesday - Diaplogue Introduction: Have two characters introduce each other using only dialogue - no backstory, no internalization, just dialogie between the two. Max 250 words.

Today is the second day of the I'm Hearing Voices Character Blogfest. You already met Rena, from my current WIP, yesterday. Charming wasn't she. Today you're going to hear a conversation that they had recently. I pinned a recording device to my protagonist, Reese's, sweatshirt. This is was was said.

“Come on Rena! You have to get to the party.”

“Why, Reese? Why do we even want to go to see the Counsil?”

“Beats the shit out of me. All I know is when I spoke to them yesterday; they said they wanted to speak to us both.”

“Great. So I wonder what secrets Levona and dad are gonna spring on us now.”

“I don’t have the foggiest idea Ms. Doom-n-gloom. And moms name is Leona. Levona is our Aunt. Plus I ain’t calling that man my dad. It’s Stephen until otherwise.”

“Shut up!”

“Don’t be dumb and put that down. If someone sees you with that-”

“Listen here you dumb bitch! We just found out each other exists and you expect me to remember every Tom, Dick, and Harry you grew up with, while I was ripped away from everything I knew, because you’re some Savior or some crap like that?”

“It’s Kirima, Monica, and Luka. Dipshit.”

“Whatev. Wait, what?”

“You said every Tom, Dick, and Harry. It’s Kirima, Monica, and Luka.”

“What about Tarrick?”

“I didn’t grow with him. We just met. In fact we only met a couple of days before you showed up to ruin everything. And don’t even think about going for your Switch again.”

“I can’t anyways. Remember? Leona cast the binding charm on me.”

“Right. Forgot. Sorry.”

“So is this the place?”

“Yup. Are you ready?”

“Not really but what choice do we have?”

“None.”

“That’s awesome.”

“Your sarcasm embodies you.”

“Welcome Realmwalkers.”

  2. It amazes me how much we can learn about the plot and the character's personality just through dialogue. I liked it.

  4. Nicely done. And smart to pin the listening device to her. I used the same method in a scene only it was a sleazy attorney who sold his client out. Gotta love those listening devices.

    1. They sure do come in handy. I think all Attorney's should have a recorded attached to them.

    1. Thanks! It's their lack of love for one another that makes it so easy for them to be "in-your-face".

  13. I am so curious about what she was picking up, and the council, and why one of them was ripped from everything she knew. I'm very curious.

  14. Sounds intriguing. I'd love to know some more of the back story between Reese and Rena.

They have a great sibling rivalry. The tension was really palable in this exchange.

    Excellent stuff. :)

    1. I live for sarcasm. Being a Realmwalker is in their blood, but not their nature.

  18. Sarcasm R US are those two! Reese and Rina are quite the pair. I see by your sidebar you are a zombie enthusiast. So is my young hero, Victor Standish. Ah, not quite. Though he is in love with a Victorian ghoul. Alice Wentworth sheds a whole new light on the phrase "eating my heart out!"

    1. Love that "Sarcasm R Us" line! Love zombies. Not that I want to snuggle up to one in bed, but that do haunt my dreams.

I'm coming to meet Alice and Victor.

And BTW - I think the cover of the book you just finished reading is going to give me nightmares. *cringe*
