Yesterday vamps stopped by to suck. My. Blood. Or more likely rip my guts out through my mouth. Today my guests only want me for my brains - pity.

Zombies. Started out as a voodoo legend, now they have taken over pop culture by the masses, as mindless, killing machines. Zombies are meant to swarm, and swarm they have. From comics, to movies, and now primtime television. Ever since I watched Dawn of the Dead (2004) I am obsessed. I have watched all the original Romaro movies, and LOVE all the remakes, new films, comics, novels, and TV. 28 Days/Weeks Later, Dawn of the Dead, This is Not a Test, The Reapers are the Angels, World War Z, The Walking Dead, etc.



(Dawn of the Dead) Nobody ever said being a zombie was an attractive job.



(28 Days Later) These SOB's could haul ass. Let's hope if a zombie apocalypse does happen, we get the shambling version. 

(The Walking Dead) Ah, an attractive group and much slower than the ones above.

Just a few of the Zombie novels I have read. Most of these are only one part of a series which I was not going to paste them all. My zombie "READ" list is forever long and ranges from horrible to drop dead awesome!

May Monster Madness - Day 5

I'm sitting here whoofing down an egg and ham McMuffin and Coke... breakfast of champions, pondering how I forgot my breakfast and cell on the counter at home - again. Ah yes, I have kids, lack of sleep cause the 3 yr old didn't want to sleep (she is a little monster in her own right), and apparently I'm human *gasp* and this sort of crap happens. Anyways...

If you've been around lately then you know Saturday I highlighted Urban Legend monsters, Sunday was The Descent, Monday featured Mutants, and yesterday The Creeper graced my page. Today, Vampires will be stopping by. And not the kind who sparkle. Or the Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise lookers either. I'm talking about the Alaskan kind.

30 Days of Night is not only a three-part mini series but was also made into an film in 2007. Which later spawned a few more projects. Vamps, who are sensitive to sunlight, search out Barrow, Alaska as the 30 days of night draws near. Once the month long darkness takes hold, nothing but murder and feeding thrives. Sheriff, Eben Oleson, has to inject himself to keep the rest of the survivors safe.



Yes! A blood facial. So good for the skin.



Someone needs an Orthodontist. Stat!

May Monster Madness - Day 4

Yesterday I highlighted the mutants from Wrong Turn and The Hills Have Eyes. Today I'm featuring the monster that has "those peepers". Can you guess?

"Jeepers Creepers, where'd ya get those peepers?

The popular 1938 jazz standard and a beloved song, Jeepers Creepers, was turned in to a horrors delight thanks to the 2001 horror film by the same name.

*shutter* The Creeper, or as I know him - "WTF!" is one of those monsters who keeps you up at night. Consuming pieces of body parts (might I mention, they are still alive) of his prey, to replace the ones he's missing. Once he smells fear on you, you are pretty much f___ed. Ok? Ok.

Brilliant! Lets jump down some tunnel while The Creeper's away. Oh sure, nothing bad should come of that. (JP1)

The boy in the second installment is out securing the scarwcrows. See the one with the birds around it? Yeah, not good. My gut sank when "WTF" flew off with the boy as his brother and father watched helplessly. (JP2)

Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral is set to release this year!! 23 years after the previous film, we follow Trish Jenner (Gina Phillips), who is now a mother. Realizing that the return of the Creeper is just around the corner.

Yesterday I hightlighted creatures from The Descent. Today I will be featuring *shiver* mutants from Wrong Turn and The Hills Have Eyes.

The original Wrong Turn - Freaked. Me. Out. And my husband loves to torture me with it. We will settle down on the couch to watch a movie - I'm all snuggled in my pj's with a snack and he is crushed tightly against my side - when I think we are going to watch one movie, he springs Wrong Turn on me. Not cool. That just isn't cool. You know?!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE horror flix, the scarier, the better *cough* The Fourth Kind *cough*.

Anyways here are the mutants who wig-my-ass-out.

May Monster Madness - Day 2

Today I'm highlighting the underground creatures in the movie The Descent.

 2005 British horror film written and directed by Neil Marshall. The film follows six women who, having entered an unmapped cave system, become trapped, and are hunted by subterranean flesh-eating humanoids.
2009 British horror film and a sequel to the 2005 horror film The Descent. Two days after the events of the first film, an excapee is taken to the hospital and is asked to return to help save the ones left behind.

What they encounter in both films leaves me with shivers!

I have picked 5 main features which will be posted the 12th-16th and something simple and fun for the wrap up on the 17th.

Today, however, I will highlight some Urban Legends, Sightings, and Otherworldly creatures...

Chupucabra [tʃupaˈkaβɾa] - Literally "goat sucker") is a legendary cryptid rumored to inhabit parts of the Americas. It is associated more recently with sightings of an allegedly unknown animal in the United States, especially in the Latin American communities. The name comes from the animal's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock. Physical descriptions of the creature vary. Sighting reports of the Chupacabra have been disregarded as uncorroborated or lacking evidence, while most reports in northern Mexico and the southern United States have been verified as canids afflicted by mange. Biologists and wildlife management officials view the chupacabra as a contemporary legend.

Yeti or Abominable Snowman - Said to be an ape-like cryptid taller than an average human, similar to Bigfoot, that inhabits the Himalayan region of Nepal, and Tibet. Stories of the Yeti first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century. The scientific community generally regards the Yeti as a legend, given the lack of conclusive evidence, but it remains one of the most famous creatures of cryptozoology.

Bigfoot or Sasquatch - Name given to an ape-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. Most scientists discount the existence of Bigfoot and consider it to be a combination of folklore, misidentification, and hoax, rather than a living animal, because of the lack of physical evidence and the large numbers of creatures that would be necessary to maintain a breeding population.

Mermaid/merman -  Legendary aquatic creature with the upper body of a female/male human and the tail of a fish. Mermaids appear in the folklore of many cultures worldwide. Mermaids are sometimes depicted as perilous creatures associated with floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drowning. In other folk traditions they can be benevolent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans. Historical sightings by sailors may have been the result of misunderstood encounters with these aquatic mammals. Christopher Columbus reported seeing mermaids while exploring the Caribbean, and sightings have been reported in the 20th and 21st centuries in Canada, Israel, and Zimbabwe. The US National Ocean Service stated in 2012 that no evidence of mermaids has ever been found.

Loch Ness (Nessie) - A cryptid, reputedly a large unknown animal that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is similar to other supposed lake monsters in Scotland and elsewhere, though its description varies from one account to the next. Popular interest and belief in the animal's existence has varied since it was first brought to the world's attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal, with minimal and much-disputed photographic material and sonar readings. The most common speculation among believers is that the creature represents a line of long-surviving plesiosaurs. The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a modern-day myth, and explains sightings as including misidentifications of more mundane objects, outright hoaxes, and wishful thinking. Despite this, it remains one of the most famous examples of cryptozoology.

Slender Man - A fictional character that originated as an Internet meme created by user Victor Surge on the Something Awful forums in 2009 with the goal of editing photographs to contain supernatural entities. The Slender Man is described as very tall and thin with unnaturally long arms, often ending in tentacles. It has a pale featureless head and appears to be wearing a dark suit. The Slender Man is associated with the forest and has the ability to teleport.The Slender Man is commonly said to stalk, abduct, or traumatize people, particularly children. (My kids are horrified of this! They have some seriously scray dreams) Minecraft computer game even has it's on version of The Slender Man.

Last but not least...

Aliens or Extraterrestrials - Defined as life that does not originate from Earth especially intelligent life forms— that are of extraterrestrial origin.
My favorite Alien movies: Independence Day, Signs, AVP, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Fourth Kind, War of the Worlds, etc.
