Here is a little inspiration for my fellow authors respectively...
Paperback Writer - The Beatles
Paper back writer (paperback writer)
Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?
It's based on a novel by a man named Lear
And I need a job, so I want to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
It's a dirty story of a dirty man
And his clinging wife doesn't understand.
Their son is working for the Daily Mail,
It's a steady job but he wants to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
Paperback writer (paperback writer)
It's a thousand pages, give or take a few,
I'll be writing more in a week or two.
I can make it longer if you like the style,
I can change it round and I want to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
If you really like it you can have the rights,
It could make a million for you overnight.
If you must return it, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.

What Kind of Zombie Blogger Would You Be
‘The blogging community divided into its current branches within a few years of the Rising, reacting to swelling ranks and a changing society. You’ve got Newsies, who report fact as untainted by opinion as we can manage, and our cousins, the Stewarts, who report opinion informed by fact. The Irwins go out and harass danger to give the relatively housebound general populace a little thrill, while their sedate counterparts, the Aunties, share stories of their lives, recipes, and other snippets to keep people happy and relaxed. And, of course, the Fictionals, who fill the outline world with poetry, stories, and fantasy. They have a thousand branches, all with their own names a customs, none of them meaning a damn thing to anyone who isn’t a Fictional. We’re the all-purpose opiate of the new millennium: We report the news, we make the news, and we give you a way to escape when the news becomes too much to handle.
-- From Images May Disturb You,
the blog of Georgia Mason, August 6, 2039’
A little passage from Feed by Mira Grant. Chapter 3 ending blog.
I’m only half way through the 571 pages in the first installment of The Newsflesh Trilogy
Can you guess what kind of book this is…. Zombie!
“Alive or Dead, the truth won’t rest. My name is Georgia Mason, and I am begging you. Rise up while you can.”
The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beaten the common cold. But in doing so we had created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.
Now twenty years after the Rising, Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives – the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.
So… after reading that passage… what kind of blogger are you? We have the main protag, Georgia Mason who is a Newsie. She reports hard facts. Then there is her brother Shaun who is an Irwin. He goes out and literally pokes zombies with sticks, all while recording and posting it for the adrenaline junkies. And then we have Buffy, named after the one and only, she is our Fictional. She posts poetry, stories, and fantasy.
Almost everyone blogs in this novel… the future world is consumed by the blogging world and staying connected in society that has the fabric of life literally torn apart.
My question to you, scratch the blog you have now, if this zombie world was to actually happen, which blogger would you most likely be?
Newsies – Hard facts reporter
Stewarts – Conspiracy theorists
Irwins – Danger/thrill seekers
Aunties – Memoir, everyday life
Fictionals – Poetry, stories, fantasy
It’s hard for me to pick because I would probably want to entertain all of these ideas but I’d have to go with… uhhhh… Stewart. I’d probably be a Stewart though I’d also poke a few zombies every now and again.

Okie dokie my lovely winners. This is what I need you to do for me; easiest way to measure for the perfect fit (whether it's your wrist or ankle) is for you to use a piece of string or yarn. Wrap the string around the desired appendage til you get the fit just right and cut. (Remember you are going to want the anklet to sag slightly so it sits comfortably on the ankle bone) Then take a ruler and measure the string exactly.
Now you are ready to shoot me an email at d.bertrand_12@yahoo.com with the measurements and color preference and your snail mail address. I will then send you a list of charms that you can choose from.
Thanks so much for everyone participation!!!
Tomorrow... an excerpt from Feed by Mira Grant and a blogging poll in reference to said book. What type of blogger would you be if...?
Make sure to stop by on Friday for the unveil of a NEW blogfest!

My Book Stash and Giveaway Reminder
I'm continuing my raid on the local library. They are probably sick of seeing me. I'm now on first name basis with Shantel - the young "bookmaid".
She seen me coming. Before I could drop the 3 books in the awaiting cart ... she took them from me.
"So what's on your list today?"
"Dunno."
"Ah, browsing as usual?"
"Yup. I'm still waiting on those books from the storage room though."
"I will call the main branch and tell them to hurry up." And with a playful smile she was off making that important call.
Apparently ACPL has a ton of books I want to read, however, they are in storage. Who puts the one copy of a book in storage? It's a library people!
So I browsed and found a few books I need to catch up on...
Waiting in the shadows is Divergent & Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Blogiversary Giveaway

| Urban Dictionary: The yearly anniversary of someone's web-log (blog) |
So it's been a year since I started blogging and I thought I would never really like it. I tried it cause I loved to read what was out there. My intentions were never to actually blog about stuff myself. However, I got addicted and so the rest fell into place.
Enough of my blabbering...
On with the GIVEAWAY!
If you visit often or only on my Zombie days; you know that I LOVE the world of zombies. (I'd like to think I would be the zombie slaying badass but I'd probably be one the first bitten)
For my book giveaway I'm offering up...
But don't fret if Horror novels are not your thing. I'm also giving away some handmade bracelet/anklets if you prefer.
You can pick any color... there are hundreds (not just the ones pictured) there are also tons of charms (not all pictured) Beach, hearts, flowers, seasons, wildlife, etc.
My mom and I make them. You've heard of those magnetic bracelets that help regulate your circulatory system, right? Well these are the same thing. Those dark beads are magnetic and conform to your system. Example: if I was to wear one then loaned it to a friend, it wouldn't help them because the beads have already been regulated to me. Get it! Cool right!?
Also, we make them for guys except guys won't get all the frilly stuff. Those are only colorless, magnetic beads. I mean, unless you like that type of thing.
The GIVEAWAY will last until noon Monday, Sept 3rd. I will post the winners later that day. I only have one copy of my favorite book to gift but I will give away 5 bracelets/anklets.
All you have to do is post in the comments which item you'd like then I will have my lovely two yr old reach into a "hat" and pick the winners. Yeah I'm doing it old school.
Have a good day!

My Top Seven Things this Week
This week’s top things that make me happy.
![]() |
| Nabisco.com |
1. I’m addicted to Nabisco’s Honey Maid Graham Crackers. It’s been my breakfast every morning. Angry Bird's addition ONLY.
2. The Library. If you haven’t noticed my frequently changing “Finished”, “Current” & “Up Next” Readings then here’s a list of books I’ve read/waiting this month…
a. The Forrest of Hands & Teeth by Carrie Ryan
b. The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
c. The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan
d. Witch & Wizard the Fire by James Patterson
e. Beautiful Creatures by Garcia & Stohl
f. Nocturne by Christine Johnson*
g. Auracle by Gina Rosati*
h. The Hunted by Jessica Verday
i. The Hidden by Jessica Verday*
j. Divergent by Veronica Roth*
k. Insurgent by Veronica Roth*
Italic – Read
Bold – Reading
*In-Waiting
3. Lists. I make lists for everything. Grocery lists. List of nail polish we have. List of movies we have. List of movies I’ve watched. List of books TBR. List of books I’ve read. If it can be on a list… I’m sure it’s there.
4. TV shows. Grimm. True Blood. Big Brother. Falling Skies. The Walking Dead Entertainment Weekly Preview. And most recently because my two yr old has discovered she can watch Netflix on the big screen… Curious George, some Crayon show, and something about a Superhero named “Why”.
5. Netflix. Really, do I need to elaborate?
6. Sweatshirts. I am a jeans/leggings and sweatshirt kinda girl. I love Autumn and this weather is right up my alley. Apart from for a few hot days lately (but you really can’t rationalize with Indiana weather).
7. My kids started school Monday and so far, so good. We were all really nervous about the NEW school but the kids have adjusted well. One I have to worry about (freshman) cause he’s a tender soul and the other I don’t (7th) cause she’s… ummm… how can I put it… hardcore. She’s extremely girly in every way possible but she isn’t one to hold back. She’s the wrong girl to pick a fight with. She’ll go 10 rounds with you and win. I don’t want to make her sound “mean girl” cause she doesn’t have an entourage but she will put you in your place no matter what age you are. If you’re wrong… she let you know.
So there is a few of my favorite things this week.
Monday… a Giveaway!
