May Monster Madness - Day 2

Today is Day 2 of the 2nd Annual May Monster Madness! Hosted by Annie Walls and her blogger buddies, Emma @ Little Gothic Horrors, and Ked @ Something Wicked this Way Comes.

How does May Monster Madness work? Well, it's a blog hop featuring posts about monsters! Anything you can think of as long as it has something to do with monsters... crafts, lists, movies, funnies... anything!

Today I'm highlighting the underground creatures in the movie The Descent.

2005 British horror film written and directed by Neil Marshall. The film follows six women who, having entered an unmapped cave system, become trapped, and are hunted by subterranean flesh-eating humanoids.
2009 British horror film and a sequel to the 2005 horror film The Descent. Two days after the events of the first film, an excapee is taken to the hospital and is asked to return to help save the ones left behind.

What they encounter in both films leaves me with shivers!

Have you seen The Descent?

Tomorrow - another monster, more movies

Happy Mother's Day!!!

  5. There is something gut-twisting about nasty creatures that look like they just came out of the womb... but have way too many teeth.

  6. I've seen The Descent and it struck me that the caves may have contained flesh-eating monsters, but that some of the cavers also had bits of monster in them as well.

  8. That one was creepy.

I liked it in some ways, disliked it in others. I've realized what I didn't like were the characters. I didn't care much for them. Didn't connect. But the being stuck underground with those whatever you call them things, that was the creepy part.

This movie reminds me of one I saw that was really good. If you like the underground caving part of The Descent, you should check out Sanctum. It's more of a thriller/action adventure about cave divers who go diving in these underground caverns and of course bad stuff happens. It's completely a man against nature thing, but getting stuck like that underground, with water flooding the only way out... yikes. So that's not a horror, but I'd definitely check out Sanctum.

  9. I know I've watched The Descent, but I only remember watching number 2 :). It is indeed a creepy monster. I really should look it out the movies and watch them again.
