Fav Movie Genre
Horror - I've always been a horror child. Something about it gets my curious blood boiling. The "what's ifs", "I would have done", "what were they thinking". Plus you can learn a lot of survival tips that way.
Fav Music Genre
Classic Rock or 90's Grunge - The Who, U2, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, CCR, Jefferson Airplane, Steve Miller Band, Ozzy, etc, etc.
Classic Rock brings be back to my youth while helping my dad in the barn or help my mom clean. Saturdays were reserved for cleaning. My parents would crank the radio so loud, you could hear it at the neighbors - and we lived in the country.
Grunge takes me back to high school. Nuff said.
Fav Book Genre
Dystopian - Of course! Kind of links back to the horror movies. The idea of a society, generally of a speculative future, characterized by negative, anti-utopian elements, varying from environmental to political and social issues fascinates me.
Old School Rap - i.e. KrissKross, Fresh Prince, Tupac, and Bone Thugs and Harmony and I can't forget my good pal Johnny Cash. I usually HATE country music but I love me some Johnny!

Haha, I love your guilty pleasure choices! Fresh Prince!!
ReplyDeleteI like the grunge era, too. Here in Seattle it's still hot. :)
ReplyDeleteSince you're a 'Zombie Enthusiast' you loving horror isn't a surprise to me. Oh Yeah, U2 is one of the best bands ever. Aw yes Old School Rap. Rap now is often too slack and dirty for me. Wow this is the first time I've seen a blogger openly say they loved KrisKross. Wiggity Wiggity Wack! Guess you realize I do too. Fun post. Oh and yeah, dystopia is on fire.
ReplyDeleteJohnny Cash...now that I wouldn't have expected, based on everything you mentioned before...
ReplyDeleteI love Grunge. I live in Seattle, its birthplace. Still love and listen to Alice In Chains, one of my all-time faves.
ReplyDeleteThe classic rock stuff takes me back to my high school days. Crap I'm getting old!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest.
Great music choices. I love most of them. I mentioned Bowie too, but I put him on the edge of glam :-)
ReplyDeleteAll of your answers have "cool" written all over it. Danielle, you are COOL. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like horror to a degree, mostly in books, but movies take it way to far. Although the one book that scared me the most was The Exorcist, still haven't seen that movie. Pure evil is the most horrifying. Even the picture you used is frightening. Great picks, though, and I miss the northwest -- cool folks!
ReplyDeleteDystopian books are pretty cool. I just read the Matched series. Enjoyed reading your list!
ReplyDeleteguilty p's your choice is wonderful... i mean hip, well dammit i am not cool so i don't know how to refer to it.

I'd definitely agree with all your genre picks. I am a bit of a wimp when it come to horror movie and have to hide my eyes at times, but I do love love love that genre. And of course I love dystopian as well. It's one of the best.
ReplyDeleteOkay, your GP is hilarious. I'm laughing so hard at LL Cook J's pix. Classic.
ReplyDeleteAll great choices!!! We share similar likes.
ReplyDeleteAh! That Grudge image just gave me some horrible flashbacks to some equally disturbing nightmares.
ReplyDelete"Kris Kross will make you ... Jump, Jump" ... That'll be in my head all week!
ReplyDeleteHorror... perfect choice!!!
Love dystopians and classic rock! I wish I was braver and could like horror... :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pic for next to your favorite movie genre. Creepy.
ReplyDeletei can see all your faves mashed together for an awesome horror, dystopian flick with grunge & old school rap & rock! rock on, wild child!
ReplyDeleteYou have some really great music there! All of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI am so not a horror fan. If I make it through a horror film, it's only because my hands were covering my eyes most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI do love 90's grunge though.
Love me some horror as well (see my blog), especially 80's stuff. If you like comedy horror done well, you need to find "Blood on the Highway." Cool stuff.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and I like your idea of rock. Not too much into rap but I like Eminem and a few others. Of course, Mr Cash was the shit. Love it.
Signing up for Spooktoberfest. Sounds fun!
Cheers.
Hmmm, my comment disappeared! See if this one works as a test.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading horror more than watching it. Although I love older horror movies. I love stuff that makes you jump, but I don't care for the gore.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know about the contest! I'll be in touch. :)
I like classic grunge too, and classic rock. Have you ever read Yevgeniy Zamyatin's classic dystopia We? Besides being a chilling dystopia, it's also quiet possibly the most un-Russian Russian novel in existence, since it has almost no touches of its writer's culture or society.
ReplyDeleteHorror. *shudders* You and I are such opposites - remind me why I love your blog again? However I do like me a really good dystopian so that's all good.
ReplyDeleteThere's an award for you on my blog too if you're interested :)
Until Hunger Games came out, I'd never heard the term 'dystopia'. Now it is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI *can't* believe I make you cringe, and you're the horror lover ;)
Your parents and their cleaning techniques sound like an awesome day in (out?)
I'm trying this same thing on my three boys, but so far no one (aged 5 or under) seems to keen on Tiesto, Armin or Above & Beyond :)
I'm with you on dystopians, but you lost me at horror. *Shudder*
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Danielle! :)
Yay for rock, horror and dystopian! And, yes, I still enjoy listening to the rap music of my childhood. I had a bunch of rap cassettes until recently, when I finally got rid of them. Sad sigh. I haven't seen a cassette player in ages.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
My Genre Favorites & Guilty Pleasures
Hello, Danielle. Great list! I loved the horror and classic rock mentions. How are those Veronica Roth books? I just won both of those in a recent contest and have yet to red them. Just curious. I have so many in my TBR pile and so little time, so I'm always mentally shuffling the order around.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
-Jimmy
