Celebrate the Small Things - Valentines Day

Every week some of us like to share the small things that we have accomplished. Thanks Viklit for giving us an outlet!

Also, today we are Blog Blitzing VikLit so stop by and blitz the crap out of her!!

1.  I made sure to not forget to get my Valentine's a little something. My husband and I working together (but different depts) and I put together a gift basket for him. Chips, his fave drink, cookies, and candy bars. You know... the healthy stuff.

2.  After two days of my older kids staying home sick and a stomach bug, they made it out of bed and on their way to school. I see lots of make-up homework in their future.

3.  I read 3 books since last Friday. My goal on Goodreads is 50 bks this year... I might have to up that number if I keep slamming them out of the park. I have so many TBRs, I can't stop myself. Plus I get a lot of "reading" done when I'm at work cause I listen to them, and then read an actual book in the evenings at home.

4. The forcast is showing a slight warm-up this coming week so 30some degrees is going to feel like a heat wave!

Hope everyone has an awesome and relaxing weekend!

And So It Begins

This morning as I'm trying to write this, I am eating a nice, hot, piping bowl of oatmeal and drinking a mug of French Vanilla cappuccino. My throat is a little dry and sore and the hotness of this morning’s doses helps relax my vocal cords. And so it begins… the start of the 150+ books I need to read this year. There are lots of reading challenges going on but I could only settle on one. Granted most of the books I read can be spread out among several challenges but I, however, chose to concentrate on one.

I am a numbers kind of girl and broke down the number of books I need to read this year (150) and divided it by the number of weeks in a year (52) and came up with 2.884615385. *Laughing at myself* Now the number doesn’t seem so taxing. I hate feeling over whelmed and the best way to calm my nerves is to do “the math” and in this case, it’s taken literally.

It's the 3rd day of this New Year and I’ve gotten two books done.

ZOMBIE SHORT STORIES
by Brian James

FANGED LOVE

by Ally Thomas
(Wish I could have found a better picture)

Both authors have several other books and of course I plan on reading them all. In case you haven't gathered... once I read one book from a particular author, I want to read them all. Especially if they are great writers.

If any of you plan on joining the challenge ... good luck! Keep reading!

150+ Reading Challenge For 2012

It is Amy J's pleasure to present to you the
150+ Reading Challenge for 2012!

Last year was her first year hosting the 100+ Reading Challenge. She noticed a TON of blogs are hosting it this year, so she thought she would up the challenge.  100 books may not be a problem to read for one year.  I know there are a lot of people out there who can read more than the base line of 100.

So....this year she is not only challenging herself, she is going to challenge you (us) to read even more this year!

Now don't get discouraged! When you read the rules below though, you will find that it is quite easy to reach 150 books.

Don't be shy! Come sign up and spread the word!  The challenge doesn't officially start until January 1st, 2012.
DETAILS/RULES:

1. The goal is to read 150 or more books. Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate. Posting on GoodReads or wherever you post your reviews is good enough.

2. Allowed are: Audio, Re-reads, eBooks, YA, Manga, Graphic Novels, Library books, Novellas, Young Reader, Nonfiction – as long as the book has an ISBN or equivalent or can be purchased as such, the book counts.

What doesn't count: Individual short stories or individual books in the Bible and comic books.

3. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.

4. Crossovers from other reading challenges count.

5. Challenge begins January 1st, 2012 thru December 31, 2012. Books started before the 1st do not count. You can join at anytime.

6. When you sign up under Linky, put the direct link to your post where your books will be listed. Include the URL to this post so that other viewers can find this fun challenge. If you’d prefer to put your list in the sidebar of your blog, please leave your viewers the link to the sign up page. Again, so viewers can join the challenge too.
