The Walking Dead Has Plagued My House

Your head spinning yet?

Last week and last night’s episodes of THE WALKING DEAD left A LOT of my facebook friends and family baffled. I’m no expert by-all-means but I do have my own opinions and thoughts and I will try to address as many as possible. I wish I knew Robert Kirkman. Personally to get into his head but unfortunately, that is not the case.

So here we go…

What is up with them killing two big personalities off? Hmmm… well…. They both die in the comics regardless. However, Shane dies before Dale does. In the comics Shane dies similar to the way he did in last night episode; being shot down by Carl. The weird thing about last night’s episode is Carl raised his gun before Shane even reanimated and righted himself from his grassy knoll. *raises eye brow* Error in the actors part or was his initial target his dad? I doubt it. Carl had been watching the whole thing through binoculars; he had to have seen Shane drawing his weapon first. He had too!

And... why is that damn kid walking around like it's nobody's business. I mean, good thing cause Rick would be goner but come on!

Now on to the reanimation of Randall and Shane. These are the first two characters that we have seen come back from the beyond and threaten the survival of our beloved apocalyptic friends. How’s that possible without being bitten or scratched? This is where my opinion comes in. I have several thoughts but I’m more slated to the understanding that the disease must be airborne now and we, the survivors, are already infected. We just need to die before we succumb to the virus. Even though my “logic” might have some holes in it like: if that’s the case then how is a future baby born healthy? Maybe the womb protected him/her (I know which one but not spoiling it for you all)? I have no clue people. It’s all speculation.

The Walkers are evolving so that must mean the virus is too. Walkers are stronger, more calculating than we originally thought. Who would have thought a seemingly weak zombie would have the strength to rip open a rather healthy man’s chest? We didn’t. So why can’t the disease be airborne? It can!

Other reasons behind the reanimation without being bitten, scratched, or airborne?
~ It could be in the water. Hershal and several other survivors were pumping water out of an underground well. Seepage?
~ Randall’s wrists were cut from the handcuffs. Maybe they were contaminated from a previous handcuffed victim.
~ Shane was stabbed. Maybe the knife Rick used had also contaminated. Coincidence?

Do you have any predictions or opinions about the virus or the show in general? Please share.

  1. My husband loves this show, and has been telling me all about it. But I must admit I haven't been watching it myself. I'll have to ask him his opinion on the airborne thing. That sounds plausible to me.

    1. I would love to hear what your hubby has to say. If you decide to start watching, let me know!

  2. I had been looking foward to this post!

The point in time when Carl raised his gun also confused me. Although now that I think of it, he did sart looking up to Shane as a father figure when Rick was "dead." Maybe he just came to his senses when he saw Walker Shane?

I talked about how Shane and Randall became walkers without being bitten or scratched. We came to the conclusion that somehow the became infected.(Probably the virus is airborne) But they are only carriers of the disease until they die, then because their immune system can't fight it anymore (or something like that) you turn.

    1. Yay! I'm glad you were looking forward to this! I was excited to post it.

My husband thought same thing. Carl was actually thinking about shooting his dad. Good thing "Shane of the Dead" got up when he did.

My thoughts exactly! It hasn't explained it in the comics yet either so we are all left speculating.

  3. I love the Walking Dead. I have not missed one episode. I am baffled by the airborne turn of events because that would mean this small group need to drink poison kool aide and be done with the whole show. Zombies have won.
OK I'm done on that. I read that you disabled that stupid word verification. Can you tell me how? I'm in the A-Z.

    1. To disable the word CAPTCHA you need to go to the old format. Go to the comments area and then go to settings. There you can disable the comments CAPTCHA.

Maybe there is a cure of sorts for the carriers of the airborne virus. OR, maybe over generations, the human race builds a resistance to it like everything else.

    2. If they are all infected, couldn't it be possible that Lori's baby will have an immunity to the virus having being developed while it's mother was infected?

  4. I know his son has a gun pointed at him, but how could he not hear the guy get up behind him? (Caught just a glimpse of the ending of the show.)

It's awesome how fast they turn into zombies now. That guy was dead, and then a minute later his eyes were all clouded and his skin sallow.

I'm still waiting to find out what it was that the technical scientist dude from season 1 whispered into the MC's ear before the facility blew up.

    1. I'm with you. Why couldn't he not know. Shane was moaning a bit. (I need to watch it again to make sure) But you think that a normal kid Carls age would have said something to his dad? *shrugs*

I think Shane turned so fast because he died instantly from the knife wound. But I'm guessing here.

It has been speculated that Dr. Jenner whispered that Lori was pregnant. Remember, they had to take blood tests when they got there. I'm sure we'll never know.

  5. Like you, I think it's airborne and that ppl are already infected, and after they "die" the virus comes to "life" ... like my little lingo? hehe

I was bummed that Shane died, but knew it from the comic. I just thought they'd keep him around longer since the "TV Shane" had already passed the timeline of the "comic Shane."

I can't wait for next week!!! Holy crap.

    1. Nice play on words!

I was happy they finally killed me off. He annoyed me! "He was his worst own enemy" as Dale would say. Once he outlived Otis and Dale; I about threw a fit. Besides the comics I figured they would kill him off soon. He'd been picked up for a pilot on a different series.

I can't wait either. Hopefully that zombie horde comes and they move on to the prison.

    2. Ooh!!! What's the series?

I agree. They've been at the farmhouse too long. It's time to move on!

  6. I so want to watch this show. I've got it all on TiVo, but I also have a 3 year-old, so these shows are not on when we get home, and I usually pass out after I get her to bed. Someday I'll see what all the craze is about.

    1. I hope you find some time to watch it. I have a two year old and she loves the show. She says "zombies bang bang". Not sure if it's healthy for her to like the show so much but she seems fine with it. Not that I'm saying you should let yours watch it. I was just saying why I get to watch it. Cause, like you, I can't stay up late - at all.
