Express Yourself, Lunar Lovin and a Re-Introduction

Today is full so lets buckle up...

First up...

This week on Express Yourself (sounds like I'm hosting a TV show) Jackie and I want to know: What movies do you watch over and over that you can practically quote them word for word?

Dazed and Confused, Aladdin, Lion King, The Sandlot, The Breakfast Club, Star Wars (New Hope), Romeo + Juliet, Rocky Horror..., Dawn of the Dead...

I think I'm gonna stop there. I seriously could go on.

Next Up - Some Dark Romantic is hosting the Lunar Lovin’ Hop! Take a pic of the moon on the 27th and post it on the 28th.

Well here in the land of Indiana, the weather can be very impulsive, last night we had overcast and sleet. So I had the wonderful idea of running outside in my naked feet with my iPhone and snap a picture. What the hell, right?! If I wasn't going to get the moon then I should at least get something. So I give you SLEET!

And Finally - Steve Tremp, Elise Fallson, Carolyn Brown and Mark Koopmans are co-hosting Re-Introduce Myself. So on January 28th, feel free to take a moment and share something interesting about yourself. It can be anything. It can be about writing, or blogging or life.

Hmmm... Let's see... My name is Danielle but my aunts have always called my Dani. A few years ago, another Danielle started working with us so my co-workers opted to call me Dani. After Danielle #2 quit, the name stuck. My friend of over 14 years also calls me Dani but we have a nick name for everyone.

If you don't already know, I'm 35 and a mom of four. A 14 yr old, 13 yr old (in 7 days), 10 yr old and 3 yr old. Met my second husband at 26 and this one seems to be stinking around. LOL. We really do love each other. He's my polar opposite - we magnetize each other. Oh and I'm done having kids. Love them dearly but I'm done.

I'm hardly ever serious. Oh, I can be serious, and mean, and just a straight up be-itch! But I'm normally sarcastic, cynical, cracking jokes, a klutz, honest, fair, steadfast - your typical Capricorn. Ask my kids, they have to ask me whether I'm being "for real" with them; my husband is the serious one.

I love to read and write - dystopian/horror mostly but I also enjoy fantasy, paranormal, YA. I'm not a huge romance girl. Well to be perfectly honest, I've never really been a girly girl. So give me action - that also goes for movies. Blow stuff up! Bring on the aliens! Chase me with zombies!

So that's me in a nut shell. Now go visit all the blog hops and fests going on! Have a happy Monday!

  2. Hey, you sound like a lot of fun! I would love to get into writing horror, but alas, no ideas yet. :) Maybe someday.

  3. I love action and adventure, too, but if it's got some lurve thrown in then I'm all the more happy. :)

Nice sleet pic - thanks for sharing! hehe

  4. Laughing is extremely healthy, so go you. Nice to meet you and I like your pic even if there's no moon in it. :D

  5. At least you took a pic. *grins* Lion King and Aladdin are such amazing animated classics. Consider yourself reintroduced Dani. Still love you the second time around.

  6. I love the name Dani, but I also love Danielle.

Wow, you are one busy mom. I only have three kids, and that's crazy enough. :)

  7. I am a huge Star Wars geek...I can watch it over and over. Much to my kids chagrin. They are pretty sick of it.

I like the nick-name Dani. My daughter is Franchesca but everyone calls her Frankie. It suits her.

We share a lot of the same personality traits. I am never serious for long and I married my EXACT opposite. Which makes life much more interesting, if you ask me. :)

  8. Nice to meet you, Dani! G-friend, I don't know how you do all you do, but I'm giving you a standing ovation because you deserve it! Maybe if I have just one more cup of coffee, I can be like you, lol. I'm glad I stopped by. You are a lot of fun! :)

  9. I have a number of students named Danielle that go by Dani. I got the impression from reading your post that you talk fast. Do you? Four kids are great fun but moms need a lot of energy for such a crew. I know.

  10. Love the Breakfast Club, Aladdin and the Lion King!! My husband and I have the same values, but we're opposite in a LOT of ways. It's worked for us for twenty five years. :) And I have four kids too! Although mine are all older than yours. (22, 21, 17 and 14) But I have the three year old grandson too, which puts us back on even footing. :)

  11. P.S. Zombies rule! I take it you're a fan of Walking Dead???? Can't wait till it comes back on!

  12. I had a good chuckle when I read your post!
You are the exact female version of my Capricorn hubby... even down to those character traits you mentioned... and I am the serious one... yes, polar opposites work well.
    Nice to meet you Dani!

  16. Another non-girly-girl... yippee! Glad to hear you and your hubby get along so well :) Nice re-meeting you!

  17. Nice to meet you. This has been a great blog hop. Although everytime I say that, I always picture myself in a poodle skirt drinking a malt. haha. I'm not a girly girl either, have 3 kids (also done), and also have the polar opposite husband 2.0. :-)

  18. Nice to meet you, Dani. I'm with you on not being serious half the time. Where's the fun in that?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm also done having kids. I can hardly contain my glee every time I remember it's only uphill (in a good way) from here. I'll never have to breastfeed again!!

    Nice to meet you!

  20. Lovely to meet you, Dani. I'm a fan of dytopian/horror novels too, although I don't tend to write in either genre. What a wonderfully eclectic list of movies--you don't very often see Rocky Horror and The Lion King in the same list. :)

  21. So nice to meet you, Dani! Sounds like this is a busy place to hang out!

  22. Nice to meet you, Dani. I'm not a big romance gal either. At least not in books. I like it better in movies.

  23. My stepkids (and kid) are pretty close in age to yours. 18, (nearly) 16, 12 and 4. Never a dull moment, that's for sure!

Lol, mine don't get it when I'm joking with them because I say things so deadpan. Then they get annoyed when I say I was joking! They should know by now... don't take me seriously!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, I don't do aliens or zombies, but I do write a LOT of action! I love it, too!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes! Explosions and aliens. I'm with you on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  26. We were done having kids also...until the bonus baby came along!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh no, frostbitten toes are uncalled for, in any blogfest! Still, I enjoy that pic - very visually interesting! Thanks for hopping with me! :-)

  28. We had bad weather here in Iowa too. Nothing like a whole day of freezing rain!

  29. Sweeeeeet! I think I found another blog twin. I'm not a girly girl, don't go for much romance but have read it for reviewing purposes. Give me action, guns, big booms and fast cars. lol! I'm a wife and mom as well. Very nice to meet you. Hope to see you at my blog. Here's my link: www.caledonialass.blogspot.com

  30. it's ok, my hubs and i are pretty opposite...but the love is mutual. oh my that was cheesy! hahahaa...he would give me the "your weird" look if he heard that. :D

  31. I'm so glad I'm not the only person in the world who doesn't think twice about taking naked feet outdoors in the middle of winter.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ah Dani, can I tell you something cool cuz I see you love tattoos? I have a horrible tattoo, and I sent a requet to Tattoo Nightmares (Spike TV) have their artists do a cover up. I was invited to send them my story! Not a guarantee to be on the show; but if you watch it, you'll understand my passion.

My family still teases me about going barefoot too :) Way to improvise and rise to a challenge, lol.

  33. I'm also not much of a romance fan either. Some are nice, but romantic comedies generally make me want to gag.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Like your "moon" pic. It looks like I'm looking through a kaleidoscope. Very cool.

I love romance stuff (you know this), but I'm all for aliens, zombies, and heart stopping stuff, too. :D

  35. Nice to re-meet you! I love your sleet picture :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's great to meet you! You do seem like a hoot, don't you? :) Guess you got to be with a full life. I don't do romance books either, bot not much into dystopia. Horror is good. Interesting moon/sleet pic.

  37. You're funny! Sounds like you've got your hands full with those kids. Glad I never was one ;)

It's so nice to meet you :)

  38. So nice to meet you. And I snorted when you said your second husband is "stinking around." I don't know if you did that on purpose, but that was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Love your blog, I'm not a girly girl either really, although sometimes the emotions creep out since having my daughter. That's what I blame it on anyway!

Oh, and Smokey and the Bandit was on last night, my husband was shocked/amused/embarrassed at just how many lines I knew. Put the petal to the metal, with a ten-ten on the side!

  40. What a fun post. Great to meet you and find out more about your writing and personality. Anyone who can manage four kids (from teenagers to toddlers) is impressive in my book. I have three girls, so I know the work it takes (13, 11 & 8). New follower!

  41. Greets - hope you're having fun with this re-meet thing. Tis a pleasure to drop by and say 'hello' :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hahaha at the sleet! Hey, at least you still did it! We're the same age, but you've got double the kids. I'm also happily finished having kiddos, and enjoying the ones I've got. Let's see, movies I can quote throughout? Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Ladyhawk, Princess Bride, Labrynth, Aliens, etc. Like you, I could go on forever!
