I'm glad you ...Its been hard to talk about it. I'm glad you could help the wee ones. They need that comfort more than we could ever imagine. Oh and my favorite Christmas song is actually "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" by Garth Brooks. I'm not a country guy but he makes you want to sing along with him!Bushmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17578478269526006557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5746252721462765153.post-53202025029956128442012-12-17T14:14:43.627-05:002012-12-17T14:14:43.627-05:00That is a great question...How do you??? We shouldn't have to talk to them about this...it shouldn't have to happen.

I did talk with my kids right away- I wanted them to hear it from me and not someone else because I didn't want them to think I was too afraid and therefore make them more afraid then they already were. I didn't go into details, letting them ask questions on their own. It was so hard to drop them off this morning, so hard to let them go and trust they'll be safe.

I loved your story- it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing your conversation with your kids.Rebecca Green Gasperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14487755367578898689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5746252721462765153.post-35494338003199105142012-12-17T11:39:42.366-05:002012-12-17T11:39:42.366-05:00I'm childfree (though hope to change that befo...I'm childfree (though hope to change that before I'm too old), and went to a rather tough, violent junior high and high school. The first of my three high schools has since had metal detectors installed, so the threat of gun violence is seen as very real there. One boy I was acquainted with actually prevented a potential school shooting while I was there, and was celebrated as a hero in the school paper.

The local oldies station plays 24/7 Christmas music for almost two months. What planet do their deejays and management live on when they think a normal person wants to hear constant holiday music well in advance of the actual holiday, and won't get sick of it long before Christmas? That's my sign to change the channel till Boxing Day!Carrie-Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05810154378449825641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5746252721462765153.post-20899817155122389062012-12-17T10:58:52.024-05:002012-12-17T10:58:52.024-05:00No kids but what happened was horrible. And we haven't talked about it yet. My son has been around news reports but he doesn't seem to be paying attention.

So often he doesn't see what's going on outside his own world. Not because he's selfish, but I think because he just doesn't watch people outside his circle. And analyze everything people do/say. And listen to gossip.

So we haven't talked about it yet. But I will now after he gets home from school because they probably will be talking about it today.Suzihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16502606950280751205noreply@blogger.com
