Whatever Wednesday - Death and Being OK

Today my brother would be 32. Ten years ago I lost him in a car accident. Tonight after work I am going to take the kids and "visit" with him. Even though I know he is everywhere, I should still pay my respects and go to the plot. In the last 10 years I have only been there twice.

LOVED working out
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

No need to feel sorry, I am very comfortable about the situation and have come to terms with it all. Tony and I were best friends and were very close. I have no regrets in the 22 years we had together. And I'd like to think we still are close.

With whatever it is you believe (I accept ALL forms of religion) I believe that he comes around time to time. From what I've experienced to what his friends and my own have experienced, Tony loves to visit in dreams. He never talks - he's just... there and present.
He was ornery

One dream was nothing but him and I sitting in beanbag chairs playing Nintendo. The ORIGINAL Nintendo. He smiled and held my hand. It was so peaceful and perfect.

I follow a few Death blogs to hear and witness what others are going through or have experienced and I read the following article today. So interesting...

I Survived - Zombie 5k

OKAY…
Wow what a weekend!
Saturday rolls around. I plop – literally – out of bed at 6am. Shower, brush my teeth, squeeze into my new Danskin jogging leggings, and slip into my t-shirt. Am I ready for this? Who the hell knows? I pull my hair up into two small pigtails, find some ankle socks, and glide into my running shoes.  I’m skipping breakfast cause I’m hopeful for some Mc. E. D’s.
The hubs comes shambling down the stairs, grabs a Dew and the marches back upstairs to get ready.
Once mom arrives, the two of us stumble out to the car; drop ourselves to our seats and both give a loud “UGH”.
About two minutes later we arrive at a friend’s, pick them and on down to Knightstown, Indiana for 2012, Run For Your Lives , Zombie 5k.
The lines to get out gear took a total of 15 minutes.
My spectator and I

My friend Val, her hubby Derick, and I (before picture)
Along the way we met some characters.
Speedomen to the rescue!
Obstacles consisted of several streams, river beds, climbing walls, climbing ropes, barely making it up steep hills, dark buildings which had hanging electrical shock cords (PLEASANT!), a maze, maneuvering under and over planks, logs, and trees, and of course running around OR over zombies.

Holding pins

And we're off!
I managed to keep all 3 of my flags through the first mile. OH! Did I mention 15 minutes into this thing I wanted to quit. I had left my asthma inhaler behind. Damn me! I know, what a loser, but I stuck it out. My hubby – who did not run the course – would have been so disappointed and pissed that I paid ninety bucks to quit. Anyways I stood up and thought “I can do this!” First mile entailed a buttload of zombies, two creeks with ice cold refreshing water, and two walls which involved two guys getting down on all fours so us girls could step on the backs and climb over. How knight-in-shining-armor!
However within the second mile I lost 2 flags. DAMN! Second mile trek featured four waterways, swing under downed trees. At this point a very tall man swung, landed on a loose boulder and face planted into a tree under the water. He came up with a bloody nose and part of the tree he busted with his face. He stood and kept on going. At this point we had about 20 misfits in our group and the only 2 participants that had flags was the guy that kissed the tree and ME! Yup, I’m still going.
Third mile was the hardest. Three tall, massive hills, rope ladder which gave burns in the most unwanted spots, open fields of 20 or more zombies, the maze, the building of electricity, money bars, and the electrified fence.

The building of zappers

When we entered the finish line there were two lines to pass through – INFECTED or ALIVE. I came sloshing up to the line feeling pretty infected and heard the word – ALIVE!!!

Huh, me? I looked down and low and behold I carried my last flag across the finish.
See my lonely flag. My friends however, were infected.
Derick, Val, Tiff, and I

The 3 guys in the back were in our wave and were awesome support. The guy in the middle back kept all of his flags. I mean, would want to get in the way of that bull. Nope I didn't think so.
IT WAS DA BOMB!!!!
If it comes to your area, you NEED to do it! But leave the bath salts at home.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Or Do They

Victoria and Jaycee are at it again! Their "Oh, My Hero!" Blog Hop was such a huge hit; they have decided to grace us with yet another awesome bloghop! Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Bloghop is today.

How it Works: Interview a heroine of your manuscript, novel, or WIP by a fellow female counterpart also from one of your written works.  Your featured heroine can be interviewed by her best friend, a heroine from another one of your written works, a sister, the opportunities are endless!

Well I have two heroines: twins; Reese and Rena. These names may seem familiar ‘cuz I have written about them before on several posts.

Reese is from the 21st century while Rena is from the 19th century. So how are they twins, well I guess you'll have to buy the book when I'm done with it... whenever that might be. Also, when you see the word flash, it doesn't mean to lift your shirt.
I hope you like them as much as I do….

“For crying out loud, it’s hot out here! Why did you say you needed to meet me?”

“I didn’t say, but really Rena, can’t you do anything without complaining?”

“Uhm. No. It’s in my nature. If I'd known you were taking us to the Mojave Desert I wouldn’t have worn my petticoat.”

“I don’t know why you wear that hideous thing anyways. It’s so ugly. Besides I wanted to talk. Aren’t you interested in getting to know me at all?”

“Reese, we may be sisters, but that doesn’t mean I’m automatically curious about you. We grew up in two totally different worlds –”

“Literally.”

“Don’t interrupt it’s rude. And stop twirling your hair. It’s annoying. Like I was saying, I’ve lived without you for seventeen years so getting to know you now seems pointless. Plus, I really don’t do girl talk.”

“Who says I brought you out here to talk about boys? Maybe I just want to spend time with you.”

“Really? So you don’t want to know what kind of guy I fancy?”

“Well since you brought it up. What kind of guy do you fancy?”

“How do you know if I even like guys?”

“What! Do you like girls then?”

“If the right one comes along.”

“So your –”

“Bisexual? Yes.”

“Huh. So have you ever –”

“Had sex with one? No, I’m attracted to them on an emotional level. Oh my Lord. You don’t mind if I take my boots off? I have, like, a pound of sand in them.”

“Do whatever you want but please keep your shirt and tights on. Why did you wear all of this crap anyways?”

“Put my coat down! I assumed when you said picnic you were thinking Niagara Falls or someplace comfortable. I didn’t think you’d flash us out here.”

“Thank Jeezus I didn't do Niagara Falls! Since you fancy girls and all. I wouldn’t want you thinking I was hitting on you.”

“Ha ha very funny. I like guys too you know.”

“What’s your type? I’m thinking mean, bar brawling, peg-legged.”

“Screw you Reese. I like someone who’s smart, looks sexy in a kilt –”

“Kilt!”

“Damn, don’t choke on your food. You heard me. A kilt. And if he is missing a leg I hope he replaces it with a mechanical one. The only wood I want him sporting is–”

“Yeah! Yeah! I get! Sheesh, for someone who doesn’t like to do girl talk you sure are chatty.”

“Uh, wha-, oh whatev. What about you? What kind of guy do you like?”

“My lips are sealed.”

“Well, shit!”

Bloghops and Blogger

First lets give some shoutouts to bloghops!!!

Amy Sonnichsen and Christa Desir are hosting My So Called Teenage Life bloghop today. I was seriously thinking about doing this one. I dug up some old photo books and senior albums but to my dismay there was nothing. Let’s be honest... if you know me, you know I'm not highly sentimental. I never kept a diary cause I never wanted it to be discovered. Should we say I was never the... uhm... good child. I'm just gonna put it out there…

I was the overachieving, cheerleading, vodka drinking, pothead. Yup I said it. POTHEAD. What’s a girl to do? My brother grew up knowing how not to get caught. I chose ALL the wrong guys. Did ALL the stupid stuff no one else would do. And was ALWAYS blamed for the stuff I actually didn’t do. Am I proud - NO! But I can't deny it was a part of my life. Teenagers! Ugh!

My poor kids can’t get away with anything. Such as life.

So even if I did keep a journal or diary; I most likely wouldn’t have remembered what happened anyways.

Moving on…

Tomorrow is Jaycee’s and Victoria’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Bloghop!

I’m overly excited and have my post all ready to go. It was done on Monday!

Then on the 30th of June Melinda Dozier is hosting How We Met Bloghop.

Share the story of how you met your significant other, be it your husband, boyfriend or partner, in 100 words or less.

Make sure you go visit Melinda for the deets to this hop!

And finally; over at Falling For Fiction aka FFF (or as a co-worker thought it stood for -Fine F*&%ing Females – and thanks to him, it’s stuck). They are hosting Hookers & Hangers Blogfest July 16th & July 18th

We all know how important the first and last lines are in every chapter. This blogfest will hopefully get your HOOKERS and HANGERS polished making it impossible for readers to put down your book and leaving them begging for more!

NOW!!! I have one thing to say about Blogger… why in the same H. E. Double Hockey Sticks doesn’t this dang thing have spell check? I mean, if it does, I don’t know how to get it to work. It’s a huge pain in my butt. Yes I am one of those who strongly rely on it. It’s a crutch. I spell how I talk so sometimes my words end up all wonky. Ya know?!

It has been bugging me - well since I started blogging but I've had enough. LMAO!

Ok done with that.

Have a great Thursday!

First Fight/First Kiss WINNERS!

It’s Monday morning and I was agonizing ALL weekend over this blogfest.

ALL of the First Fight/First Kiss posts were superb. I literally didn't pick the winner until this morning. It was that hard! I loved them all; from the WIP excerpts, to the Real Life posts, and even that super romantic poem.

I also want to say how much I enjoyed reading everyones posts. Everyone writes so different which is a wonderful thing. I love the different styles. It keeps things interesting and proves stereotypes in writing don't exist and don't give up on writing just because you get turned down. Eventually you will find the perfect fit agent or who knows. Being an Indie writer isn't so bad either.

On to the Winners!

Prizes! Jackie and I will each pick our favorite scene from each day. That’s 4 prizes total, folks. What are the fabulous gifts for the winners? $10 email-giftcards to Amazon or Barnes & Noble so you can choose that book you’ve been wanting or download it to your Kindle or Nook.

I'm Behind and I know

Today I'm making my way through all the participants of the First Fight/First Kiss Blogfest that Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and I hosted.

If I haven't commented on your entry, don't worry, I will be there. Promise!

The past couple of days have been hectic and overwhelming.

My son is still sick and has a dr. appointment tonight. He's had a fever for three days and now it's hard for him to breathe. He has had a brutal summer so far and it could be taking it's toll on him. Between baseball and late games, summer school, studying for a state test - my poor 10 year old isn't holding up.

Today was THE DAY for the test but once he showed up, the teacher sent him home and told him that she will make an exception and have him come back Monday. Thank Heavens! The first thing she said when he walked in, "You poor thing. You look terrible. I want you to go back home and rest, see a doctor, and come Monday." She is the sweetest!

But on a HIGH note! Monday is the big reveal for the Blogfest!!!!

See you all then!! And thanks for being patient with me and my life outside of the blogosphere.

Oh and have a wonderful Fathers Day to all the great dads out there and the women in there lives!

Okay... so some might be wondering what took me so dang long. Well my son is sick and I was in such a hurry this morning and left my memory stick at home with the kiss I wanted to share. So on a whim I wrote the follow excerpt. There will be all kinds of crap wrong with it cause I was in a hurry but hopefully you guys like it. I actually like this scene and want to use it so if you guys see errors or have suggestions to make it better. Go ahead and let me know. My feelings will NOT be hurt. Thanks!

“How’d you do that?” Lathem asks.
“I’m a demon Lathem,” I croon, “nothing about me is ever what it seems. I can shift and change into whatever your heart desires.” Why am I saying these things? What’s the matter with me? As I walk, my body shifts from my form, to the form of the girl he loved while still alive.
“Naamah stop!” He shouts. “You – you don’t know what you’re doing.” The ripples of his body falls stoic.
Damn it! Control yourself! My mind and muscles struggle against each other. I can’t do this to him but with every step closer, my body craves his. I ache for his forbidden touch.
The air in my lungs is deeper now, more fulfilling and the fear on his face reminds me I’m a demon.
“You can’t do this.” He takes a step back. “You know you can’t do this.” His pleading eyes fill with tears but they never falter over my naked body. “You are not yourself.” Another step. “You will kill us both.”
“I can’t help it,” I plea. “Something’s wrong. I think he’s done something.”
“Your father? Why would he want to kill you like this?”
I can’t respond. The desire to have him is too much. Fight it! Fight it! His warm breath heats my face as it sends chills up my arms.
Vibrations of my body make him shutter. “Naamah,” he whispers like a gentle breeze.
The menthol feeling of Angel Ash feasts on my body as his hands caress my bare sides turning my dark skin an angelic white. “I thought you didn’t want to do this.”
“I’m don't. I’m ending it. Us.” The tender kiss of his lips skims my neck, making my knees buckle sending me falling into his arms.
With a slight movement of his wings, the armor plates disappear, exposing his naked feathers. “Stop you can’t-”
“I will!” The taste of his tongue in my mouth burns as million little particles of Ash fills me from the inside out. “Whomp, whomp” his wings move the air pulling us up. Flying is the strangest sensation.

“I can’t breathe,” I mutter.
“Me. Either.” His breathing catches.
“Your face!” Like before, the blackness from me seeps into him. His eyes grow darker with every passing moment we continue to touch. “Lathem, your wings!” The darkness kisses each wing, killing it. They fall away, one by one. Irreplaceable.
Wings squeeze, killing us slowly. Lips press, spreading our sickness. Bodies grind, releasing our pleasures. And in the last few moments of my already dead life, I feel all the emotions of an Earth Walker.
Before we reach our climax, we begin to free-fall. Death rushes us.

I Want Some Blood - Truely

While I am going from blog to blog, reading the First Fight excerpts; I thought I would post about a fun little magazine I received in the mail. But before I do that just a few reminders…
You still have time to post your first fight scene but NO later than today. And don’t forget to post your First Kiss tomorrow, Thursday the 14th.
Don’t forget to visit the other participants. If you love it – let them know. If not – find something nice to say.
Remember we have prizes (2 each (1 fight/1 kiss)– yeah that’s 4 prizes all together) we find titillating!  LMAO!!
OKAY… on with more titillating fun!
Sooooo, I receive my ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY in the mail and who greets me but… Eric himself!

I drool and then turn the page…
Oh the $$$ I would pay to collect them all!
And 11 of the hottest vamps, weres, fairies, mediums, villains, shifters, and the mentally challenged (did I get them all) staring at me.
ME!
It's so hard to pick my favorites cuz they are all hard-bodied wannabe-wit-them lovers.

Pa-lease! If any one of these delicious sexpots climbed into your window at night I don't think you'd turn them away. Would you?

I swing in the way of men like Layafette but "damn bitches" I would welcome these women!

Pam is by far my fav female and I'd want her to be my maker any day.

Hmm... I wonder if Alcide would settle for a plain human to bed with.

Oh well. On to the other photos I snapped (yes I used my iPhone instead of stealing them online)...

Why in the sam hell is Eric so far in the back like he's a wall flower?!
(never thought I would say this, but click on the pic it gets bigger for better viewing) *giggles*

Do you see that very alluring dark skinned lover to the right. Look hard... I know it's a small picture but do you know who that is? That is the recently killed off Spartacus doctore - Oenomaus (Peter Mensah as Kibwe) - love him! So excited he has joined the True Blood family.

And of course the most anticipated newbie (standing)... Christopher Meloni as Roman.

The kid at the table? That's Jacob Hopkins. He plays Alexander or dubbed as the "troublemaker". He was turned at the young age of 9 but is far from it.

Channeling Lafayette ... See you (for the second and final installment of our blogfest) tomorrow bitches!

The FIGHT excerpt is from an old WIP I wrote years ago. It's the classic tale of Angel's vs. Demon's. No love triangles. The angel doesn't fall for the human girl. In fact, the angel hasn't fallen at all. But when Lathem is asked to become his sisters Guardian Angel, all Hell breaks loose. Literally. Below will see what happens when Naamah, a demon, attempts to help Lathem retrieve his sister from the nine realms of Hell. Her brothers - Esau, Cain, and Solomon, are sent to stop them.

Remember, it's an old WIP so it needs retweeked! ENJOY!

“Get behind me!” Unfurling his wings, Lathem drops me to the pavement below.
Searching my breastplate, I locate a dagger. I struggle, my fingers slipping off the hilt of each blade with beading sweat.
A crack echoes off the sides of buildings. Lathem stands above me whipping his knout over my head. Spikes gleam from the ends of the cat-o-nine’s cords as they whistle through the air.
The churning of my gut still my feet. I know those spikes all too well, the ones like fishhooks. They go in the skin like butter but once inside, they balloon and catch for maximum damage.
A scream rings out which causes my focus to flow from my sickness to sound. Brother, Esau, stands motionless as a slow blackness courses through his veins. It can only be Holy Water. The streaks stand out against his newborn-pink skin. I feel for him but can no longer protect.
Lathem takes off running, leaps from the street, into the air and up the side of a building. The “whomp whomp” of wings help lift him as he runs lengthways across the windows, yanking the cat-o-nines from around Esau’s neck. His eyes beckon for me to help but I can’t. I won’t.
Lashing out again, the knout grazes Cain’s mouth, sending bits of flesh and fangs along with it. His skin bubbles and seethes. His eyes grow black with anger and fury. Blackness spreads. Cain’s face seems to disappear as his veins pulsate, filling with Holy Water. His hand holds tightly to the whip.
My fingers still rest on the hilt of my blades. I was pathetic, couldn’t even release my blade from my strap and My Angel had slashed two of my brothers. Even though the Holy Water would not kill them, its power will warn them that Lathem isn’t the pushover newbie they think he is.
The last is mine. I circle around the backside of Solomon while his attention raves on the Angel. Lathem’s face lights up as he realizes my plan. The sound of the crackling whip sends a rush of needles up my spine. The talons chime and clatter on the street.
Solomon doesn’t even jump. “You’re mine Fledgling!” He howls.
Firmly planting my feet, I fearlessly fill my lungs with air. My fingers dance upon the hilt of a dagger. I had to do it. I had to kill my brother.
I know that if I run, Solomon would feel my movement through the air like ripples in water. My eyes dance on Lathem’s. We stare at each other, breathe catches in my lungs. Slowly my arm raises above my head, pulling a dagger from its sheath, mimicking Solomon. A scream arches from my lips leaving my insides hollow.
The dagger flies from hand, flipping over and over again slicing the air. Before I can take it back, my body vibrates with pain. I know that once the blade reaches him, he will most certainly die. Once demon blood is spilled by a Dark Dagger, it won’t maim them. It kills.
Esau and Cain howls in pain, letting me know that I have succeeded. Triplets, of course, they were made from the same threads. Cain’s dark eyes pierce me, “This is not the end Naamah. You will pay!” I have no doubt the threat is not an empty one.
The earth underneath opens, swallowing them whole. All that is left of their presence is pain and death. Solomon’s body bursts into flames, his ashes melting into the ground below, leaving my dagger behind.
“Are you ok?” Lathem asks. Angels and Demon’s didn’t see the world the way humans did. Our vision dulled to view the sights from the beyond. I can see the here and now by it was transparent like looking through a mesh screen. Two worlds played in my vision at once. And just like before, the Earth Plain carries on without the knowledge of ever knowing what has transpired.

Lafayette and Sookie deal with Tara's shooting while cleaning up the remains of Debbie.

Pam is asked to change Tara, but will it work?

Meanwhile, Bill and Eric are confronted by the Vampire Authority, one of whom is the vampiress Nora (a woman from Eric's past), about Nan Flanagan where they gets silvered and thrown into the trunk of a car.

In search of the missing Marcus, Alcide's wolf pack go after Sam. Alcide goes to warn Sookie about Edgington.
Jason is also confronted by the recently turned Steve Newlin. Steve confesses his dying confession that he loves Jason. Ummm... dude do you see your sweater? Sorry to tell you but we knew already.

And then somewhere in there was some Guitar Hero... yawn.

Bill and Eric free themselves... find a storage container to - uh - protect themselves from the morning sun.
